The honeycomb jacket structure of a stainless steel tank refers to a design in which numerous neatly arranged frustum-shaped recesses are pressed into the jacket shell, with circular holes punched at the bottom of each recess. These holes are then welded to the vessel body, thereby forming a honeycomb‑like configuration.
Advantages of a honeycomb jacket: 1. Strength: The honeycomb nodes are connected to the inner cylinder, and the welds divide the jacket into discrete, interconnected pressure-bearing zones, allowing for a significant reduction in jacket wall thickness. 2. Heat Transfer: The honeycomb jacket features narrow gaps and a relatively small flow cross‑section, which increases the fluid velocity within the jacket cavity. As the fluid continuously changes both velocity and direction, turbulence is generated, enhancing heat transfer performance.
The honeycomb jacket is an efficient heat-transfer method, and its structure is widely adopted in the design and manufacture of many stainless-steel tanks. By reducing the thickness of both the jacket and the inner vessel wall, it helps lower manufacturing costs while delivering high thermal efficiency, making it extensively used in production lines across industries such as food processing, chemical engineering, pharmaceuticals, and light manufacturing.
